Hi there fellow bloggers...long time no see! Well without doubt I've been neglecting my blog for far too long. I can only put it down to two things....work & play. Lots of commission work has been rolling in thankfully and since I am the quintessential dillydallier my tardy approach has only got me to the top of the pile now. I've loaded up some new paintings, illustrations & steampunk pendants onto my website The Josie Baggley Company & signed A3 sizelimited edition prints are also now available -just sayin' :)

~*PLAY...oh yes play...what a grand time I've been having this year so far. Myself & my paramour Eamonn have been living-up the Dublin jazz scene , have taken a wonderful holiday in France organised and run Temple of Rock and are on the cusp of the return of The Ferocious Mingle Market. We've spent the summer imbibing ginger beer & ruby wines , indulging in home made icecream ,cakes & pies, cycled all around the city, partook in art exhibitions,enjoyed concerts, shows & gigs -some of which Eamonn played in and luxuriated in doing absolutely nothing of task or toil whilst in Dinan, France. Long may it last....

Well hello dear peeps!

it's been a long time since I blogged and told -& I've been away from Happy Blogland for quite a while oops!-it wasn't intentional ,-I've been a busy woman! I was exhibiting my paintings at the Peoples Art 2011 Exhibition at St Stephens Green in Dublin a couple of weeks ago which was a howl ..we imbibed in wine and chocolate as we watched the people go by, drawing light relief through random critique & obiter dicta in relation to the diverse passing attire worn by the masses-overall quite acceptable to our tipsy disposition (that was a pretty long sentence-I'll put a full stop here now . Now let me see hmmmmm. what's been going on in my life; I was featured in The Irish Times Magazine.-(Rainey J Dillon).. :)a lovely lively journalist Tara Brady contacted me to ask me if I would be interested in an interview about my steampunk jewellery ,paintings & The Ferocious Mingle Market. Well eh ''YES ''I said . I thought that it was going to be a little 3" mention -which btw is cool enough with regards to the Times..anyway a photographer was sent out the following week to ..well to take photos of me;) The feature ended up being a FULL colour page WOW!! I was rather chuffed with that I can tell you. Since then I've been working on a bountiful number of commission pieces. This makes me happy :) :) :)

I was delighted to find out that my work is in the book 1000 Steampunk Creations by Barbe Saint John. Jo Archer, my dear friend from England & Kristin Hubick from the States also have their work published in this wonderful pictorial catalogue that you really consequently should buy lol ;

What else...emmmm... oh yes

I've also met a wonderful man. Yes I have. I've been seeing him for quite a few months now...just sayin'.

He flips my heart .

*~Since I've been away awhile I thought that it would be nice to re ignite my blog with a little giveaway. Hi peeps!

well it HAS been a while eh? How have you all been?

I've been up to my eyebrows with The Ferocious Mingle Market & painting etc. I have hardly had time to switch ON the computer let alone post!

Anyway Happy New Year & hope that Christmas was fantastic for you. It was for me! I've been living life to the full and it's bloody great oh yeah ...lots been occurring ;)are ya curious ...are ya curiouser?

Here are a few pictures of a recent commission work which was to be a Christmas present celebrating a fifth anniversary.

(Another in my White Rabbit series-most of which are now hopping all over the world)

the story goes...(in MY head anyway! :))...

Albert Von Tilzer was a dapper Austrian Magician during the late 18th c. He was grand uncle to The White Rabbit ehemm ..yes.. and packed out the theatres such as Theater Van Der Wien with his jaw dropping performance to the delight of his adoring audience...pulling a medium sized child from his top hat was his signature trick. He was also a shrewd investor & bought up many cafés & speakeasies which yielded him a pretty penny. He also took part in the seasonal Balls in particular The Kaffeesiederball in Vienna where he sang his ears off on a beerfilled belly & on one publicised occasion fell off the stage and broke his pufftail in three places. It was in plaster for two months . It was never the same again and he noticeably walked to one side from that moment on.

I think he resembles the actor John Malkovich.

This painting was inspired by a majestic 150 year old hand sculpted stone statue in Glasnevin Cemetery of Jesus Christ. It's about fifteen foot tall and is absolutely awe inspiring. The craftsmanship is incredibly unreal...no laser cut computerised machinery back then! Anyway , using this belief system and world unfoldings of vile proportions I have tried to paint an all-powerful stone expression and then using antique & vintage papers I've depicted a scene (which has been repeated too many times in a clandestine world ) below Him that which suggests innocence, church, trust, paradise,wolfe,death,vengeance, lurking danger & sachrine persuasion intent on feeding its insatiable evil want.

This is one of the newer paintings that I'll be exhibiting at The peoples Art Exhibition on St Stephens Green this coming weekend.

So sorry to all my followers for having not left comments on your wonderful blogs as of late. THANKYOU for visiting mine and for taking the time to write your thoughts- love yas! I've been so busy with painting, steampunk jewellery, and running my market event. Also my daughter Jade is about to start her Masters Degree in NCAD and has needed her Mammy to help out with preparations.

It's a bit kooky this one..inspired by my friends Eszter & Roland who were talking about the fairytale of The fox & The Crow not knowing that I had already started a painting of a fox! I painted a cheeky clockwork harlequin wearing a crow cone-mask (vintage playing card piece) on the back of her giant fox Red No 5..flying through the night without a care! -until she has to be wound up again!

I've added vintage wallpaper that I got from the adorable Alicia over at Alteredbits , lace and various manuscript pieces torn up a touch of steampunk in there too (her eye mask)and an old key ..and a piece of Dresden lace. Her right eye is a 1950's magazine piece -besides this she is handpainted .

Red no 5 is a handpainted bushy tailed freespirit who is only too happy to take her up to the stars where she will turn back into a crow.(he has a strip of 1909 paper down his back with a touch of 'foxing' on it hehe ;) and a no 5 tag

Ok can't chat- have to dash- so I'm off to try to finish another one of my White Rabbits as only one remains for sale since the Peoples Art Exhibition in the city a couple of weeks ago. I am so happy that my work is being regularly purchased so I'm exhibiting again on the 24th 25th & 26th again at St Stephen's Green on the EAST side so have to re-stock ! Busy busy busy with thois and the Ferocious Mingle Market preps for this Sunday OH did I tell you?- I'll be wearing the coolest clown outfit-vintage ensemble of course! Only thing is it's bloody MASSIVE I've had to take in 7" on each side and it's STILL freakin' humonguus! I'll have to bandage my boobs to my ribcage else I look like a giant FRUIT!

Dublin City and The Samuel Beckett Bridge

I like this ad from the National Lottery . It has such a feel good factor to it don't you agree?. It shows another side/part of Dublin City ..other to grand Georgian Dublin and to The Old Quarter both full of majestic charm and palpable history. Here at Dublin Docklands we can see the magnificent relatively new Samuel Beckett Bridge in honour of one of our highly esteemed playwrights. The bridge is shaped like a huge harp with the bridge cables as its strings. How beautiful a design is that! It can move 90degrees to allow ships to pass. This part of Dublin City has been brought to life over the last few years with an introduction of contempory buildings such as Grand Canal Theatre & the impressive Convention Centre seenin this ad
with its glass fronted atrium giving you fabulous views of the city the mountains and of course the Liffey... and it's the world's first carbon free convention centre

Well hello peeps! I've been so very busy as of late what with The Ferocious Mingle Market & now The Peoples Art Exhibition at St Stephens Green Dublin City. From Tomorrow morn and through the weekend I along with other artists will be showcasing our paintings right around the park gates.

This is a new piece that I've just completed .

Handpainted portrait- she turned out to be kind of 'pop arty-vintage with a Santo thing going on -I THINK! and then I've added very old (from 1918) tears of paper & vintage lace to give texture & a tactile multi dimensional quality to it. I've mixed my colours to give an old plaster and peeling paint type of look to the background. I love to incorporate old vintage & antique 'bits' to my work rather than leave a 'cleancut painting'. I used to paint portraits at one time in my life and got quite bored with its boundaries so now I really enjoy pushing the boundaries so to speak on a finished painting to get a finished mixed media original painting whilst keeping the integrity of the raw painting....haha I know what I mean in my own head anyway lol

Sunday's Ferocious Mingle Market was a howl! Here's a video clip put together by our mascot 'Princess Peach' ..( I'm being interviewed by the princess royal at around 7 mins into it...now go easy on me guys I only had about three hours sleep the night before and it's the 6 espressos that are keeping ME upright & my mouth motoring !
Belly dancing by Zoryanna and the Mingle Finder himself ,Luca (Dublin Fleas) ! wooohoo ..and did you think it would be ANOTHER Jesus pic folks? hahah. Luca had his eye on this pic all day supposedly and didn't know WHAT was happening when he was surrounded and being told to get up on the stage and take on the accolade of being the Mingle Finder...he won 75€ cash and a very cool ~'*I found the Mingle T-shirt'*~

Dublin's first Fancy Dress Market...takes place on the second Sunday of every month at the Dublin Co-op.

Join in the kooky fun to 'Find The elusive Mingle' and win a cash prize ...last month The Mingle (secretly chosen 'thing' from one of the stalls)was a small pic of Jesus that was selling on Pamela's stall for only €5 ! Many MANY punters picked it up alright but oh well ..nobody decided to buy it!! HA! It could have won you 50€ & a really snazzy Mingle Mkt Tee. ..Are ya ragin'? :) Anyway the prize money rolls over each month if The Mingle remains elusive up until December whereby we'll raffle the total cash sum and a bonus. You gotta be there early as the Mingle could be found at any time during the day.

There'll be tribal belly dancing by Zorryanna and from Laura of Speak from the Hip..there'll be ukulele tunes from Sarah & our Mingle mascot Princess Peach will be telling us a story too!

40 pitches with selling absolutely fantastic stall candy...I promise you won't be 'givin' out'!:)

-Dear Mad Tea party folks...I've spent the evening and night trying my hardest to upload my pre-made mini video from my digital camera & for the life of me I CANNOT get it from the file to the blog! I can open it with windows media player with NO images & in a downloaded AVI with no bloody SOUND! I've even downloaded CODECS -whatever THEY are!

I give up but will try again in the morning. I'm so disappointed that I'm late so Late I couldn't play sniff SNIFF ;( and I've had to eat all the meringues & eclairs on my ownio too. A Big thanks to Vanessa over at A Fanciful Twist for hosting this quite mad event! :) To bed with me now as it's 2.15 in the morn. xx

I want it to be a success for all involved and a regular fabulously fun event on the second Sunday of every month. oh yes indeedy . ah sure you're ALL bloody great aren't you? I was sitting there for HOURS grating my barmy brain and couldn't come up with ANYTHING better than ..'Steambird'!Anyway, my lovely friend Jo Archer over at The Crow Road, offered the name Stymphalian (a Greek mythological bird) for my steampunk bird pendant. WOW! I think you'll all agree that Stymphalian is quite a cool name for it eh?

I'll be sending you your prize soon Jo & thanks petal-I LOVE the name.

So here are a few of my latest steampunk pieces now listed on my website for sale.

'The Bubble & The Sunbeam' She (The Bubble) stands by her magic machine (The Sunbeam) about to start the fabrication of the day's sunshine & the night's starlight. It's tricky work that's been made even tougher with the volcanic plume hovering like a giant filthy candyfloss over Europe!

'Gecko Hillside' as modelled by my ever so dotey hubby is a nice piece of Steampunk Chunk ,bolted and soldered. I took this pic of him as he was making dinner HONESTLY! he had just stuck the chips in the oven and I said ''here, YOU you mister with the head..put on this hat & pose for me'' and so he did-just like that! The dinner was yum!

I'll have my Steampunk Stall calling in to two markets over the weekend , The Newmarket Brocante & Ranelagh Village Market (details The Josie Baggley Company website) I'm taking actimel and eating shedloads of chocolate so as I have the energy to make it all happen!

Hello there ...well this has been the longest break taken from posting since I began blogging over a year ago!I've been busy with markets and mayhem! My daughter, Jade is studying for her finals beginning on Thursday and when they're finished she will have accomplished her Arts Degree! I'm so utterly proud & impressed by her. When I had her 21 years ago I was living in Hammersmith in London. I was a kid really and was a little all over the place to be honest. Being so young and proud I was aware of people ,older and 'together' people making judgements on me. Judgements that only served to reinforce my determination to do everything myself which isolated me even further! -the silly bloody eejits! I made a promise to my little bundle that I would give her a good life and guide her into becoming a happy well educated young woman with options in life-and here she is -EXACTLY that! She's a precious, funny, smart ,kindhearted ,down to earth gem! (she will CRINGE when she reads this!)But this is waht Mothers DO eh?

At the time ie during the 80's I shared a large London townhouse with a big bunch of biker dudes and dudettes and artists & when Jade was born -(in this pic she is only 1 Day old)they were only alowwed into the ward two at a time by the nurses. It was SO funny seeing all these so called'tough ' guys standing in line with chocolates and flowers ! Real gentle giants. These were a couple of good friends of mine at the time Michael and Les. They were so good..they would babysit and not joking they would rock her to sleep in their bike helmuts!

- I didn't actually intend on writing about this but now that it's I have ah sure I'll leave it here to share with you my friends.

I had to really pull out all the stops to get her to allow me to put this picture of her up - She's usually a converse and jeans girl and was doing me a huge favour by modelling this vintage outfit for a shop pic. I think I bought her a ticket to the Roskilde Festival in Denmark in return for the favour!lol

Here is a new O*O*A*K (one of a kind) 'Steampunk Fantasia' piece that I've created using ONLY watch & pocketwatch parts -(NO charms)(except for the bail holding the chain). I was staring at the thousands of tiny pieces of watch parts and then saw the shapes I needed to make a bird come together(that's what happens when you drink two heaped spoons of coffee in a about 6 tablespoons of hot water!,- I can tell you that I nearly went cross-eyed putting this little piece together. So it's done now and I'm quite happy with it. I'm submitting this piece into the Steampunk Inspirations Book thing and who knows?- it may be in the published book. So mey dear Baggleys I'm wondering whether any of you could suggest a name for this piece.? There'll be a prize for the winning name. ..ah go on go on go on give a girl a breadroll for gawds sake!

This is the little piece of furniture that myself & Jim made recently. Standing over 6 and a half feet .. A totally one off piece. A bespoke handcrafted timber hall stand 'Pan' . Finished in Farrow & Ball paint and touched up with gold leaf . Pan is plater and put onto a wood base. He is vintage and from a Hotel nightclub here in Dublin. He was in a bit sorry state when we got him but he had some facial filling and re-structuring(because he's worth it!) & he's lookin' rather peachy now!

Well it was another lovely day here in Dublin City yesterday- Paddy's Day ..sun shining & oh my gawd bejaysus it was fierce mild ;)haha.There was at least no repeat of last year's unfortunate happening. We sauntered in around mid-day and followed the parade stopping off here & there. Trying to get to the icecream van was a bit dodgy-people were very eager to construct a Q which was pretty demented if you ask me considering there were 600 thousand people around all eyeballing the bloody van. The icecream man looked very happy with himself alright.When I asked Jim 'would you ever go over there & buy me a cone?'' The fear was apparent as a film of sweat settled on his brow & his eyes began darting in his head in opposite directions, and then when he quipped ''would you not rather go into Avoca to buy something'' I knew his fear was real -the poor chappynoodle!

So I dropped that idea fairly quickly(the icecream idea-just in case you're lost) & went to shop for about half an hour before going to the pub. Had one ,(YES we can drink only ONE-cheeky)and then went for a lovely meal. Strolled home and that was that. Bhí mé an-sásta leis an lá -very happy with our day.

I just adore Irish comedian Dylan Moran. He is the funniest guy...I could listen to him & look at him ;) for days!Check out Dylan Moran -'The French' my very favourite....soooo funny....you'll love it.He has a skit on everyone 'Australians' 'Americans' & us Irish too in 'ACCENTS'.

Indeed we ARE! wooohoooo jump onto the bandwagon of wonderland!-it's a tad over populated but we can squeeze in more surely? Good gawd I'm spending WAY too much time online! I can feel my waffling about to start...yep...here we go..So much time just melting into the screen ...I have SO much to DO..So I'm going to post here once a week ..or so & do my VERY best to comment on all your lovely blogs. So sorry if I've not visited you ..I do look & read and oooh & ahh but I don't comment as much as I should,as much as I'd like to! Myself & Jim are still working on 'PAN' the furniture piece...we're surveying counter balance stuff a the moment ..very technical stuff yes ehem...it's a heavy piece you see..we have to 'stop sticking on clumps of wood ffs -this thing could kill you!'I say....but we 'NEED to counter balance ffs' Jim says.

This is a painting I've just finished. I painted my wonky version of The CC & used various mixed media to add interest ie antique wire rimmed specs -securely wired to the back frame; vintage wallpaper 20's -a gift from my pal Alicia Altered Bits, vintage 50's magazine cut out of an eye -the right one (the left is handpainted-as is the rest of his face) gold leaf & 1920's music manuscript papers.

I bought this conker coloured leather wallet in France at a Brocante a couple of years ago. Although it's at least 80years old it is in perfect vintage condition ie one can see that it HAS been used. It satisfyingly snaps shut perfectly well & the hinges to the back are completely intact. Slight wearing to the leather veneered tin frame on the inside but again there is no breakage & no tears whatsover. The leather has no tear damage including to the inner pockets.This little gem has years left to play!
The insignia is silver with entwined letters 'B' and 'M' ...Be Mad? ...Believe in Mad? ..Mad Boy/Broad!? Obviously if your name is Marmaduke Bottomthwaite or Myrtle Braintube this dandy thing WOULD be a grand find wouldn't it?!
I've printed an image of one of my paintings 'The Hatta' & embellished it with old chain & thickly glazed it so as it will NOT budge & can prepare for a life of battering usage!
I decided not to go overbored with the altering side of things as it IS such a nice wallet & the leather has beautifully mellowed over time.
So I finally got going on twitter today & hope to bump into you there too!
Myself & Jim are in the process of making a large dresser/hall stand called 'PAN' and I'm hopefully going to begin the painting of it tomorrow in time for The Crafty Market on Sunday. I'm so excited ! It amazes me when a pile of timber arrives and a couple of days later it's a piece of furniture! It was a beautiful day here in Dublin and we were able to work on the piece outside...had some Santana playing in the background too. ..Springtimedingalinalingtime was definitely in the air today..makes you want to dance..which is good when you have a few freeloader pounds on your bloody hips that you want to shake off! I want them GONE! I didn't invite them in the first freakin' place.

Handmade & Handpainted Screen/Room Divider(Through The Looking Glass)

Here we have a handmade timber three door Screen or Room Dividermade by Jim & handpainted by yours truly! These screens are great for instant privacy by partitioning off part of a room eg a work station or when used for their original funtion ie to undress /dress behind...oooohlala !This one stands approx. 6ft. I've been working on this over the last couple of days. Jim did a great job as usual with the carpentry work. The carved head-scrolling looks very nice indeed. I thought I'd mess about with a Tenniel illustration (I had a three inch book picture to work from so although the detail is not exact & I've added my own detail here & there I think I've stuck to the style more or less..and I did use my magnifying glass lol .I DO really like this particular picture. It's a menacing scene suggesting all sorts of possibilities & I like the way Lion & Unicorn refer to Alice as 'monster'! I've also added genuine vintage French playing cards (about 80 years old) & an excerpt from an 1952 ED of Through The Looking Glass.It's been given a framing in gold leaf & freehand scrolling. All art work as is freehand as usual & signed. I've used acrylics and it's finished in a good coat of tough varnish so as it can be polished/wiped down and also to protest the artwork

My favourite Alice in Wonderland movie by far. It's difficult to come by i'm told but I HAVE ONE now!hehe;) I love the dark creepiness. The depictiopn of The White Rabbit is delivered perfectly to my mind!-sinister & weird! Other parts to this amazing movie can be viewed on youtube. Check out the Queen of Hearts & Jabberwocky clips. It took Svankmajer TWO years to make using stop motion technique. A method that he has used in other fabulous movies too. A preternatural accomplishment this movie is seemingly simple without all the Hollywood accoutrements yet would be hard to duplicate. Of course HIS Wonderland vision was key. Just FABULOUS!

Let me spin you a wicked yarn...

'Claude Arundale was a Tragic Fool..more tragic than anyone who ever had cause to be so. He was brutally 'sold out in love' & grieved & screamed like a tortured soul into the spirit of a thousand & one nights until he had ripped out his past from his being . And so, the Fool Claude Arundale became a twisted clown with an icy visage who loved only to endure & to give horror & pain . He attracted his victims with his sorrowful appearance & jester attire & when they realised all was a jest & wore shock in their eyes.(that was the part he enjoyed the most)..his shrill of a laugh cut the night hush into a nightmare.Oh how he loved to trick & torture & live to love to hate.'

Original Painting with then added 1921 music manuscript & very old lace to the neckline & metal-fabric to the headpiece. Claude's face is handpainted & then varnished to a gloss finish to achieve an 'ice' look by picking up & reflecting shadow & light I've painted his hat & harlequin background in a faded murky finish.
This painting is the subject of my first post with Dark Arts Guild of which I am a proud member.

I'm breathless people! Just LOOK would you, at what my dear friend Johanna Spinks in California has drawn! 'Tis ME !-a painted drawing of me in the hat that I've made especially for her ! Isn't that amazing? Are you jealous?;) hehe. Johanna is well into the beginning of a challenge that really requires great discipline ,that is to complete one drawing EVERY day for 365 days. Wow! and I tell ya every single drawing that she has done is bloody superb! She truly is a master of her craft. Her command of brush & paint would be of a calibre that most will never reach no matter how much we try ,learn (sad but true!) she simply has an old masters' gift-that's why there are so few with this natural expertise. So this is her drawing for today...ME! Oh good gawd I am so chuffed & flattered!! The thing is my husband wants to buy this work now as he doesn't want anybody else to have it! The sweetheart! I'm not objecting mind you!

Johanna's Molly Moppit Hat & Fleamarket Floozies

Hello there Baggley Dears,

well here we have a Molly Moppit Hat handsewn by mey wee little fingers for the wonderful Johanna Spinks. We have arranged a fine trade. In return for this chocolate velvet bonnet with pink antique rose pin I'll be receiving the beautiful painting that she mastered of my Pink French House when she was over there on a residency a couple of months back.

A Molly Moppit Hat is named so due to the fact that in olden times the washer women(mop lady) would wear a similar style usually in a white cotton & with lace trim for night-time! The vinateg velvet(not velour) is luxurious...so soft & is a sumptious shade of delectable chocolate. I bought the fabric & the vintage brooch at a Puce (flea market) in Ploubelay in Brittany. The lace & pink satin used to make the rose-pin is from an Irish antique gown & is so pretty & delicately comprised. I have also lined the bonnet & it has my label.

I am really looking forward to her receiving this almost as much as I am about receiving the painting.

An assemblage-painting into which I've incorporated 60 year old lace from an dress that is 'breaking ' at this stage!, an antique German porcelain doll's head, wire, and 1924 music manuscript -all within a gold painted wooden frame with linen inset,handpainted form phew! oh yeah the caption reads

' come along you little ones,come along with me; And we'll float in a boat made of bright moonbeams, to the land of children's dreams'

It is the same style,using same pose ('cos I like it!lol) as a previous piece 'When Your Talking Machine Glides' posted a few weeks ago (now sold). I'm doing a series of these dancing clowns. This is the second in the collection.

There's no doubting that a fresh thick coat of snow is a beautiful site. On the whole there has to be a balance, and ugliness is the balance of beauty I sadly mull. Yesterday myself & Jim went for a long walk through the park & up toward the seafront. Snowmen & snowwomen(check out pics of her on my Facebook) were like a waiting army of soldiers on the hilltops waiting for the signal to charge. Children had left a token of pride on their creations in the form of hats & scarves. We took a differnt path home & over a small bridge we looked down to the river and saw ducks with the most vibrant plumage of greens and blues, so very striking against the whiteness of the snow in the background, beautiful and clean .. and we saw a dumped bike-its plumage dirty and ugly and also striking against the beauty of the snow and moreso to the natural innocence and being of nature.

My White Rabbits are taking OVER my little mind!

They're grouped for a reason....they seem to be communicating with each other. I realise that this sounds nuts && you know ?-you're probably right there! Jim arranged them this way on my easel all ready to greet me in my new studio space....all eyes were upon me when I walked in! My delicate mind is being taken over by the desire (I believe that that word 'desire' should have a 'z' in it, don't you?!)to paint this character ALL THE TIME! Things have GOT to alter. Balance is vital & must prevail!

You've seen the 'Nasty' little guy before & the other two are new to the world. I've got these White Rabbits hopping all around the world at moment one in Spain with Juame, One in Denmark with Kirsten, One inAmerica with Alicia, three in the Uk with Martin, Anna & Jonah & and a couple here in Ireland one with somebody you may all know but I can't say hehehe.

Yep I've moved to Archway Studios (check it out)about a five minute walk around the corner from my house literally! I'm so thrilled that there was a space available for ME!. I made the decision to move mainly based on GUILT as although my other studio was in a really funky location with stuff going on there I just couldn't get it together to GET there each day...you know..a bus and a fifteen minute walk. Most times I didn't arrive 'til late evening . Then I was hungry! Then I just wasn't in the mood & it was on my mind that I had to do the journey back again! So I couldn't justify having it/the cost it incurred when I didn't really use it that much. Anyway I'm peachy now thankyou very much!

nah it's no good I just have to face it....I LOVE ALOT of Christmas tunes...each one is my favourite until the next one!yeah I'm so fickle

All is quiet and cosy and warm here at Strandville in Dublin City. My mince pies(third batch!) are baked mmmm cinnamon & orange pastry & homemade vegetarian sweetmince that myself & my daughter Jade made about a month ago. All those lovely infused juicy fruits are just bursting their skins with Christmas zing. My puddings are all ready to be unwrapped-the first will be steamed for later tonight as in our home we like to go to bed late on Christmas Eve after some real Christmasy flavour...oooh la la & some home made egg nog will be re-filling the glasses!Love egg nog oh yeah I do!
My tree is an eight footer. On top there is a fight for highest position between a vintage star ornie that I made, an Angel that I got about twenty years ago and a smiley elf guy called- now wait for it 'Cathal Ehem-Winn' yep as named by my funny girl Jade when she was around 12.
The Pudding recipe was drawn & written by her also around that time. She's 21 now!
I want to send you all WARM CHRISTMAS WISHES and THANKYOU for following my blog during the last year ,it's been a real pleasure reading all of your comments & I feel as though I've really gotten to know a few of you SO well...and lastly be kind to yourselves !

What's in a Name?

One day the name 'Josie Baggley' fell into my head-just like that! No thinking as such, no list of possibilities to choose from ,no pondering for days to decide on the title to present to my website,blog etc. It was just there & it felt right!

My Godmother quizzed ''Where did you get that name from Rainey?'' ''It just fell into my head'' I said. ''That's so strange,'' she said ''as you DID actually have a Grand old Aunt Josie who lived in Edinburgh. She was a much loved eccentric artist who used to sew all of her money into her carpet bag''! She would sew in little pockets & fold the money in behind these patches & then stitch the cash within! ''WOW'' I thought. How much more meaningful than THAT can you get?
Spoooooky but True!
So , I have adopted the word 'Baggley' as an endearment to describe quirky creative hearts that I've met along the way. I keep company with Josie Baggleys so to speak! I am so happy to have met some 'Baggleys' online through blogging etc & hope & believe that one day we will meet. And what a time we'll surely have!

This is a new piece of Steampunk Fantasia that I've just loaded up onto my website The Josie Baggley Company. I've used a gorgeously smooth silver full vintage pocketwatch case (alot of descriptive usage I know!) including original crystal & winder. Inside is a tiny Frozen Charlotte bust & behind her is a tiny collage using images from Kristin's shop over at Retro Cafe Art.

I've joined Facebook over the last few days. Yes I have! -finally. It's strange at the moment . Very different to Blogger & I'm not sure how I feel about it as yet let alone getting to grips with navigating. Anyway, this is a painting that I've been working on . I love the 1917 old music manuscript that I've added to the inner frame of the painting -it's SO old and beautifully printed. The inks that withstood time. Even the paper is so beautiful. The font designs are so elaborate & artistic.. She wears a gold leaf crown & has an abundance of lush fruits& roses all around her. She glows with happiness,contentment; she is successful and in control of love and life!

As some of you may already know I used to live in France. To cut a long story short I returned home to my city of Dublin about a year ago. I love being home. I have not once thought about moving again, not for an instant. I feel that I have gained this permanent root that was always there yes but only truly felt & appreciated and lived after I had left it to live in other parts of the world. I loved living in London also . My daughter was born there. But France namely Dinan was a wonderful place to live & to experience. Anyway, I lived in a little 'nest' over there. I called it a nset because it reminded me of a bird's cosy nest high & safe on top of a tree. A Pink House Top. It is medieval & adorable although tiny in size it's huge in character. Original shutters & beams etc. Myself & Jim did it up & it's now a cosy little gem. Dinan is an arty place packed full with artisans & appreciations. It is a small city built within medieval castle walls. My little pink house is also within the ramparts.

Through blogging I met a wonderful person. An artist. A classical portraiture artist. Highly regarded as a master of her art. She has been featured in The New York Times & one of her many affiliations is CA State Abassador to The Portrait Society of America . Johanna Spinks.

Johanna had commented on my post about Dinan. On my post I had loaded up a pic of the pink house. She told me that she was from California & that she was about to travel to France -to Dinan! She was invited there by Les Amis de la Grande Vigne to stay in an artists' dwelling to paint to her heart's content & then to have one of her paintings chosen to be added to the gallery wall. I'm not surprised as she has that old masters' style ,rich in depth . She really gets to know a face prior to & during painting and has the ability to paint a person's 'being'. She has told me that she is a 'slow' painter. And evidently that is the way it SHOULD be as in reality it IS slow to get to know a person & her paintings show this clearly. As I followed her blog it was as though I was there! It was a funny read , a charming read and at times a little sad especially when she kissed her Husband goodbye after the first week there (I'm not telling you any more -visit her blog!) I knew the streets & buildings that she painted & understood her frustrations and delights. We emailed during her time there & then on one blog she mentioned that the only thing she wished to paint (at that time during her four week stay) was my little pink house! Then she emailed me again & when I opened the attachment there it was- a perfect painting of My Little Pink House! . WOW !How cool is that? I was- I AM chuffed! I squealed with delight lifting up my laptop to show whoever was there! She KNEW I'd feel like that too! Imagine-she saw my house from America on my blog,flew to France and sat in front of it whilst she painted it & whilst I was in Ireland!! Anyway her blogging for that period has been compressed into one jam packed well written engaging post. You'll enjoy I'm sure. So here is the painting of my Little Pink House by Johanna Spinks.

So I've bee a busy bee-a raving nut really.You should see my hair-nest style! I've moved all my art stuff from the tiny dwnstairs room in the house into a real studio wooh woooh! It took AGES to sort everything. But it was worth it. Family happy a they have their dining room back hmph! I try to get there by 2o'clock five days a week & I stay there until around 9pm sometimes later. I'm awful at keeping to time plans but I think I'm improving. The fact that I now have an extra outlay per month ie RENT helps in this regard! I've gone to my studio( I like the sound of that! lol) about five times now & twice I got something done .However the other three times I got ZILCH accomplished . Just sitting on my spinning chair waiting for some motivation &of course it never arrived. Nope! now that I'm paying rent it takes flight! I leave with a heavy heart & the pressure is something else! I get home & I'm asked'So what did you get done today?' eh well ermmm.

Today I'm going in for about 3.30 & I'm staying ther until I get something finished ok well at least started.
The studio is within an old Victorian building in The Liberties ,Dublin. It used to be a sewing factory(I think) & there are about 20 resident artists in the building. It is a nice atmosphere & good enviroment to inspire one-you'd think! No my inspiration is a stubborn pain in the butt!

Well this is the piece that I'm offering to my exchange artist..Alicia! hope you like him ...he's one of a kind handpainted Alice's Lucky White Rabbit-on linen panel 5"+ x 7" & this one looks a little freaky-but I like that!. He wasa little fatter yesterday but he's since had a makeover!Tear from The Looking Glass 1952 ED, a playing card rip & a little gold leaf thrown in there too for ya!. I'm doing a range of this character in this style as I have a couple of orders in ...but each one is unique with varied compositional additions.

My apologies for the delay in posting..I really am terrible at deadlines & at this stage I know that I just have to go with it!. But I'll pop it n the post to Portland USA on Monday morn bright & late!

torn elements were then added to my painting such as 1909 papers take away the 'too nice' look of the painted image alone and I think the cute scar adds 'reason' to her shyness.(see closeup of scar detail achieved with a stanley!- Jim thought I was MAD as I was slicing through !! Haha-but he now agrees that it gives her character)
My daughter Jade inspired this work ie the red curly hair & the green eyes!

Hi Aoife! NO Aoife I do not Photoshop my pictures or alter them for the screen in ANY way apart from resizing for loadup time. This finish is achieved on canvas by hand & they are EXACTLY as they appear on the computer .I take a photo of my finished work and load them up! So wait 'til I TELL ya where I was last night!....At Vicar St,Dublin, at the Nick Cave gig! Oh yeah it was good. He even played Red Right Hand for me after I yelled it at him a couple of times! He intermittently read excerpts from his book ' The Death of Bunny Munro'

which IS off the wall & quite vulgar but he delivers the words in such an entrancing way that one forgets their guttergibeness(don't know if that's a word or not but sounds good!). He worked up an easy rapport with the audience & invited ANY questions saying from time to time ''I'll do ANYthing-anything at all'' & some requests DID ensue. Frida Kahlo is featured behind him on the running video as he recites with reference to her a particularly comical scene from his book-so funny!

An intimate concert refreshing to the jampacked larger venue concerts. We had a ball!

Well hello there mey Baggleys! The Crafty Market on Sunday was echoing with ''ooooohs'' & ''aaahhs'' as the punters laid their wide eyes on the day's offerings! There were all types of art from paintings to pottery to crazy stuffed toys to fascinators to designers' clothes..&.jewellery from Peru

I met some really funky people & had the total delight to meet some new customers who were so very pleased to become the owner of a 'The Josie Baggley Company' piece. I just LOVE it when one of my works is taken away by a magical spirit!

The background music was just perfect & here is one of the musicians injecting just the right amount of dulcet sound into the venue.

My little Witchy 'Galandria' is a doll that I've made using clay & concrete yeh I ran out of clay!. I actually made her head whilst in France & her head or as it became known as 'THE HEAD' happened to be found in the strangest places as we moved from country to country. ie Oh look Jim there's The Head inside the picnic basket' What? I don't remember putting it in there! Oh look Rainey there's The Head in the cutlery drawer.wha? in the lavender hatbox.. ehem yes I DO have a hatbox with ribboned lavender bunches inside & I'M OK WITH THAT! in the glove compartment ...in the smoothie maker..you get the picture

Anyway I decided to give the head a full body & what better time to have her 'born' but in October? Little carved wooden buckled boots & lace clad hands , hair, vintage lace & fabrics & Parisienne buttons. I keep her low down ..sitting on the floor actually ..yes as you wouldn't want this heavy girl falling on your noggin!

Officially this is the Liffey Bridge but is mostly referrred to as The Ha'penny Bridge (Halfpenny) pronounced by Dubliners as hay-pnee
So called as in olden times as a toll of a half penny was charged to use the bridge. There were at this time revolving turnstiles to each end.
Afew years ago there was work carried out to the bridge by the same company who built the Titantic ,Harland & Wolff

Dublin, home to ''The Black Stuff'' celebrated Arthur's Day yesterday with by hosting various events throughout the city. These pics were taken at the beginning of the night's ramble - I daren't show you the END of the night's shots as you more than likely wouldn't come back & would probably mistake my blog for a dodgy horror show!

So ,Arthur Guinness signed a 9000- yes 9 THOUSAND year lease on St James's Gate Brewery on 24th Sep 1759. Only 250 years used up so far! At one minute to six we all toasted Arthur...I was in Cusack's Bar ,North Strand with Jim for this special minute ie 17.59 local time and enjoyed my first of a few FREE pints for the night before heading into the city ...& whata night! Did YOU know that Arthur & his wife Olivia had TWENTY ONE children!? The Gravity Bar at the top of the Guinness Storehouse has a breathtaking view over the city of Dublin & with the intoxicating smells all around you are gasping for a Guinness by the time you reach it- and there you can taste the perfect Guinness pint ! Ten million pints drunk every day and NO not ALL in Ireland!-cheek!-we're happy but not THAT happy!

Now, to Connie, Esther & Patti I'll have that picture for you soon sweeties.- I lost my camera in town but fortunately it was handed in behind the bar. I only have the pics that were taken using Jim's phone.

Her hair looks like whimsical swirls of cotton candy(or candy floss) . I LOVE these colours so much that I want to LICK them right off but my brain quickly tells me (huh?) to lick a lolly instead instead!

Vintage card stock originals used. Vintage rose shaped embellishments. One eye (HER left) is cut from a 1960's magazine that I came accross on my travels & the other is handpainted- as is the majority of this work. I love mixing very old papers and and bits & bobs from my cluttered collection of whatnots into my paintings as I feel it adds not only dimension & interest but also character & mystery- & most importantly I enjoy it!.

..Hiya!

Just a quick blog msg. to let you know that I've been 'floored' by back problems since my last posting & it's only really since the last couple of days that it has let up a bit !I also unfortunately missed the market day due to this & even though I tried to strap myself to an ironing board to be vertical I just couldn't get it together folks! So needless to say my mood was not the best- I was bored, frustrated & utimately on a downer-literally!-didn't want to transfer this onto all of you!

Thanks Jo for your lovely email ..it really gave me a boost missy!

Jim lured me outside yesterday,(now now )by parking my bike in my line of view outside the front window & so we ended up going for an easy cycle along Dollymount Strand. The gentle touch & smell of the sea breeze, Beshoffs Chips in Clontarf & a 99- icecream down by the beach was all in all such an invigorating tonic that by the time I got back home I was renewed & ready to get back into some creativity!

I had used the camera on my phone to take these pics. so most of the shots were pretty dismal in quaity but here's three anyway. although not one of the Howth or beach shots came out so I'll be going off again tomorrow on my magic bike to take some more detailed images. The top picture is of the tower in St Anne's Pk & the stone cherubs inset are really beautiful.

I've finished this & to be honest I'm cabbaged ..absolutely wrecked !-I've been painting non stop for the last few days & my little work room normally quite untidy is now a total disaster zone...& I KNOW I'll have to go back in! Hi people. Well in reply to a couple of emails here is a pic of the man himself- the man who made the quirky Josie baggley Dresser. Happens to be my husband which is very handy as he's such a great carpenter & seems to know exacltly what I want made..I sketch it out & voila he makes it! We've know each other since we were teenagers & were friends for fifteen years before getting married eleven years ago-deliciously unconventionally I might add....another post..maybe the next one..anyway I'm meandering off the subject..so yes he's a very talented guy is Jim ..he's in the process of making a wooden blanket box for me to paint up with detail . You know in the eighties we were both mad rockers living in London ...he had long hair & a tash & used to wear green boots & eyeliner (he looked like a columbian drug dealer actually!!). & I had the sprayed on bleached jeans electric shock gruaige(hair in Gaelic) & tatty converse. We have such a laugh about all that now & so does our daughter! Although now we still love the music -noting like listening to some Carlos Santana during a hot summers day whilst dining al fresco!

Anyway I've also posted a pic of some love keyrings with real shamrock (picked from Fairview Park in Dublin) for a wedding taking place in China. And lastly for tonight I've posted a pic of a handmade(by Jim) & H/painted Screen that was a custom order for a really nice lady-Hi Tina!

Hello there ! So the Arts & Craft Market was grand. Again I met some really interesting folk who were so kind to give me encouragement to keep going! I was over the moon to have sold two of my paintings and also pretty chuffed to have sold a few pieces of my Steampunk Jewellery that I hadn't even had the time to upload onto my website http://www.thejosiebaggleycompany.com/ . There were so many interesting stalls -one in particular caught my eye - a clothes rail holding the most scrumptious designer wear by Carmel Connerny. What that girl can do with muslin-WoW! & chic vintage floral fabrics but always her pieces have a funky innovative edge whilst also encompassing such femininity. She's a natural & I hope to see her there at September's venue.

So the crow,- Ed Peters (name taken from the scrap of 1922 Edition Peters Music Script added to his attire!) is made from timber . He has an obsidian (volcanic glass) talisman strapped under his beak using leather-this gives a dimensional appearance I think to his appearance. He is swathed in old black lace & has an antique solid brass finding for his eye onto which a diamante finding is soldered on for the so important twinkle! A very old 19th century pocket watch part ,cogs and springs & an iron chain gives him a Steampunk Chunk finish.

Miss Winifred ( name taken from 1927 ephemera) is also comprised of wood. She has an old watch hand twisted into shape for her eye & wears cotton crochet lace .

This is the dresser that Jim made for me to display my creations on & I bring it with me to the market. it will be set on casters for the next one which will make it easier to move about!. I've almost finished the artwork on it.

I love this dresser I have to say. It's a O*O*A*K. It's still a work in progress but it's getting there! He has made it completely by hand & used dowels rather than screws & nails etc and I am so impressed by the way he has arched the wood to the side & how he has placed the quirky doors at quirky angles. ..quirky & charming -Just like HIM! awh shucks

Well, here I am again -boxes surrounding me for yet another move-this time only around the corner but to a more spacious house with a lovely little old garden & only ten minute walk into O'Connell St & as I drink my Nescafe Cappuchino from my favourite mug & sifting & sorting through My Pictures file I'm thinkin' to myself mmmm I think I'll share with you some of my other favourite things (and this is going to be a VERY long sentence ...I wonder how long ) full stop. I don't want to be 'posey' or anything so I'll try to choose pics carefully & I won't list too many of the HANDCRAFTED cottage that myself & my husband re-built over the course of six years -unless you WANT me to!-So I 've just included one picture of my Old (now long gone) Cottage kitchen door way & the outdoor shutters that my husband built & then I painted up.. This doorway is so special in my mind the wood used for the door was from a very old table and he, Jim not only built the door and the 2 foot thick archway but also the walls etc on the other side! So many memories of that place but also so many great ones since.

I'll start with my favourite mug,a Bagpuss Mug... I love Bagpuss and Emily & Prfessor Yaffle etc I have a few of the Bagpuss collectable pieces too.. I collect many things. I've started to collect Frozen Charlottes well ok I've ONE ...- so far!

A couple of my treasured vintage eiderdowns-the others are in one of the 2million bags packed for the move on Tuesday~ it's mental how addicted I am to vintage eiderdowns I just adore the old faded fabrics & the softness & the way they all seem to just 'go together'lovely things they are... You see? I told you -mental!

My favourite paintbrush-this is filled with super powers & I wouldn't be able to paint without it -it's like Sampson's gruaige (hair) to me.

& my bike.ah my bike-LOVE IT! I cycle to my little hearts content along the seafront & into Clontarf ,Howth & to Bull Island anywhere really singing Kate Bush tunes out of tune (i'm not allowed to do this at home for some reason?).My bike stays INDOORS!! Well I don't have a car anymore- not that I kept my CAR indoors! no just that I LOVE my bike-makes sense to me!

Hi everyone! Well I'm back . I've had a mad few weeks & I'm glad to say that things are almost back to normal.
So this is ' the Owl John Crombie' (beautifully engraved on the old pocket watch plate hanging from his night cap) a Steampunk Chunk Sculpture made by moi ,using carved wood old cash reg. keys and the inners of antique pocket watches & findings etc. He accompanied me to yesterday's Arts & Crafts Market in Newmarket Sq D.8 http://www.thecraftymarket.com/ where I had a stall. Unfortunately, I have no pics of the day to show you as my camera was out of juice..I was so peed off that I forgot to charge it before I left the house but after having approx 5.5 hours sleep over the two days prior to the market day it's a wonder I didn't forget mey bloomers dear!! You see I leave everything rather late. I sit and ponder and wait. Wait for WHAT you may ask ,well I wait for the motivation to arrive and of course it's always wins the waiting game & arrives latest! It's no joke I tell ya...looking at a large white blank canvas that mocks you and dares you. But finally it hit me ..at 3.30 one morning and from that point I worked like a nutter & completed another painting and quite alot of Steampunk jewellery pieces. My husband even managed to build me a gorgeous chunky dresser. A lovely quirky host to take my little creations . I met some fabulous people on the day and was so very pleased when people chose to purchase a piece that meant something to them. I also was flattered that I was asked if I'd be interested in exhibiting my paintings on the gallery wall. Well there they hang folks waiting to impress ,intrigue, interest & engage -I hope! I've sworn that I'll list my jewellery on the website tomorrow Tuesday night and I WILL goddammit!
There were a beautiful tribe of belly dancers who performed the most enchanting dancing to rhythmic melody and had most of the place in a trance!
I just love the atmosphere at the Craftymarket. Everyone is so supportive and friendly and likeminded. I saw so many skillfully made things and bought a lovely ceramic piece from Aggie http://www.agnieszkasynak.com/ & she bought a Steampunk bangle from me - barter to have loved than to have never.... ..heh he sorry..She's so talented and I hope she'll be there next month.

Homemade Biz Cards-matching Nail Polish!

While I'm waiting for the wonderful & very talented Cathy from Avalon Rose http://www.theavalonrose.com to do my cards up for me, I decided to paste a printout of an altered & then embellished French vintage postcard that I had previously worked on onto some of my beautiful old muisc manuscript paper. I hung it to dry with some smalls over the radiator. Then I cut them out ..i like the way random lyrics are to the back of the cards offering a kind of fortune cookie reading! I think I'll make a bunch!..oh & of course there's GLITTER...LOVE glitter I do AND my retro red nail varnish..It's only on my THUMB in top pic! seriously!

Dinan a 'Petite Cite de Charactere'
The cathedral St Savier is amazing. So beautifully old and the vaulted ceiling is stunning. The alters within are beauty personified. During the summer nights you can enjoy live jazz music outside in the square whilst drinks and food are served to you by the staff at the St Savier bar. The old stone carvings are awe inspiring. Every old building & is so proudly looked after, maintained & cherished. This is evident in the fact that this medieval city has so many original FULL buildings .The weekly market outside getting set up for the day's trade. And a magnificent stained glass window,one of many within the cathedral.

I DO love the art of stained glass...REAL stained glass as opposed to merely painted glass. I'm a fan of the great Irish stained glass artistHarry Clarke.

On the way to my favourite boulangerie Barnabe to buy my tarte citrin..the most delicious zesty lemon tart I've ever tasted!! Passing by a fab second hand shop where you could pick up some genuine vintage bargains. The old pottery shop was a magical stop. The ancient cobblestones are so smooth from hundreds of years of footsteps.

I thought I would load up a few of the many pics I have of the time I lived in France. This little pink half timbered building is my tiny piece of France. The top part(pink) is ours & the bottom is the flower shop whose abundant fragrances wafted upward in through my window to instantly put me in good humour! Above that is a friend ,Alain. A character & well known as a wonderful harpist. My fav. cafe & the bridge at the bottom of Rue de Jerzual. This is a road that is very VERY steep & is flanked by artisan businesses as you decend. All this is within the city's castle ramparts. Dinan is a such a charming small city of art & history.

Yum I love, actually need to love or love to need chocolate. This Lindt bunny was revamped by my daughter for me . Doesn't he look great as the White Rabbit?Of course there's method here as I can never eat him huh as he is a little arty guy now! Very appropriate as I am ALWAYS running late. I have calmed down now(- probably the chocolate sedated endorphins in my brain-)and I have this site setup business almost conquered!

The Predicament

This Faery Elder has found himself in quite a quandry! After all these years he's been captured & is being tormented by the sight of the key to the lock dangling just outside the bottle.

I've made this piece using an old bottle a crystal some embellishments altered paper image findings & a few whatnots.

This unfortunate Leprechaun(what's LEFT of him that is) tried too hard to integrate with the locals on St Patrick's Day by accepting a coffee which as we all know is lethal to the wicked little sprites...only the Uisce Beatha* & the Black Stuff *are safe options. He was probably a young 200 year old jack the lad with issues.

Upside, only three tragedies of this description were recorded at this years festivities.

Was this a case of suicide or a drunken bad decision or ...murder?

Any witnesses please call to city Garda Station and ask for the leprechaun mediation officer..Mike ..He'll take any info. you may have in any form ...Song, Limerick, Mime etc

It's 2.30 am St Patrick's Day & I've finally completed this painting! I re-started working on it earlier this afternoon (well yesterday!) THERE YOU ARE THEN MY Irish Heart.
I hope her eyes look as though they're smiling!her face has been painted using acrylics and the wings have been built using very old musi manuscript reading some Irish lyrics to famous tunes. Silver leaf and charcoal touches surround. Hope you like it.
I have to get some sleep now as I'm going to the city's parade tomorrow morn and then for a few glasses of the black stuff!

Have an eventful St Patrick's Day where ever you may be.

This is a vintage inspired hat - a ''Mollymoppit Hat'' that I've just finished making on order for a very sweet lady. It has been completely handsewn by mey li''l' hands using recycled fabric from a velvet skirt ,some vintage sparkley lace and a linen pantaloons. I can't wait for her to see it. I hope she loves it!

Hi there...anyone?...well here are a couple of collage mixed mediA art pieces that I've almost completed..The first is ..I suppose a modern visual of the news of the day so to speak...you know..RECESSION ,-but Little Apples Will Grow again...it's inevitable after all..and so , things in life will also grow to be better again...in time. POSITIVE thinking is the way to go folks! Surround yourself with people who make you feel GrOOvy not mooDy. Find pleasure in the simple things in life.;Love, Beauty,friends, family,Nature,Home,whatEvEr! PleasureLand begins in the mind..ie positivity & those good ol' simple things- My electric blanket and my book is what does it for ME lately..sad- I AM aware of this!-although now, I DO have a friend or two and a of family & I DON'T live in a tent & I have been known to become enthralled by a duck or an ant trail! I'm waffling now....

The second piece uses a striking original1961 image of a woman seeming very jubilant in herself and the caption ''It's A Long Way''No Longer! is defiant and weighty.

Both pieces incorporate very old original (NO RE-PRINTS!) vintage ephemera;old lace and trims a little German Glass glitter..acrylics and varnish

Both will be shown & for sale in Cafe Irie (2nd floor of Se Si,Temple Bar, Dublin) from Thurs..Gawd that only gives me tomorrow to finish. Back soon!

I didn't forget! Just took me a while to find the time to upload the pics as I've been a busy bee...hey can you feel Springtime? It's crazy that at my last blog time it was snowing!

So, this is a cute plastic shopper given to me by a dotey friend. I've inserted old fabric ,beads, ribbon & an altered vintage image that I've printed onto fabric....clock hands and an old cotton crochet doily....all sewn up with silk thread! So what do you think? Tea-time or the Angelus?! Inside it has my fabric logo tag. It easily fits all my essentials ie. brolly, mobile, purse, makeup and sweets.

I'll upload more of my one-off pieces tomorrow...I will...I will.

So all my lovely Dubliners and beyond what about this weather eh? I'm sitting at my kitchen table at the minute blanket around me trying to conjure up SOME motivation with regards to making something-ANYTHING!-the best I could come up with was a Nescafe Mocha! I'm in a 'sewing/vintage fabric' mode the last few days as opposed to my paper mode and paint mode and mixed media mode and whatever 'mode-mood' I be in. I have the design options in my head now all I have to do is make them a reality. So, I figure if I put this post up then I'm putting a little pressure on myself to deliver!as I'll upload a pic of the finished item for you to view & judge (be gentle- jayzus I can't take much more!)Just goin' to pop on Imelda May . Right then off I go ...yep feelin' determined now!
